Russia fabricates Vovchansk pocket in Kharkiv region: What is actually happening

Russian propaganda claims and statements by Russia's Defense Ministry that Ukrainian forces are allegedly encircled in the Vovchansk pocket and that Russian troops have captured several settlements are false, according to Ukraine's 16th Army Corps.
Frontline situation and Kremlin propaganda
The Ukrainian military says Russia is massively manufacturing media "victories" against the backdrop of the energy crisis, fires at oil refineries, and ahead of elections to the State Duma.
The enemy is trying to push unfavorable topics out of the information space and divert attention from a possible mobilization.
"Today, the Russian Defense Ministry and the Sever group of forces announced the capture of the settlements of Vasylivka, Dovzhanka, Blahodatne and Slyzneve, as well as the 'closing of the Vovchansk pocket.' The claim about the Vovchansk pocket will take an honored place in the history of Russian lies alongside the 'control of Kupiansk' and the 'liberation of Sviatohirsk,'" the army corps said.
Ukrainian troops restore positions
Over the past six months, no positions have been lost in the 16th Army Corps' area of responsibility.
Ukrainian troops have not only halted the enemy's attempts to advance but have also restored their positions near the settlements of Milove and Odradne.
The Russian forces are currently attempting to infiltrate deeper into Ukrainian defenses in small infantry groups, but they are detected in time and engaged with fire.
Enemy casualties for the week
Over the past week, the occupying forces have suffered significant losses in the unit’s area of responsibility:
- Killed in action — 154 service members;
- Wounded — 124 personnel;
- Equipment destroyed—1 multiple launch rocket system, 4 artillery pieces, 17 units of specialized equipment, and 43 vehicles.
Debunking Russian disinformation
Ukrainian military continues to repel Russian forces' attacks on the eastern and northern fronts, thwarting the enemy’s attempts to advance deeper into Ukrainian territory.
Alongside combat operations, the enemy has intensified disinformation campaigns regarding the alleged capture of Ukrainian settlements.
Recently, fighters from the Khartiia Brigade defeated the occupying troops near Kupiansk and cleared 4 square kilometers of territory of invaders. The defenders continue to advance and hold designated lines.
At the same time, the Defense Forces have refuted claims by Russian propagandists regarding the alleged capture of the villages of Velykyi Prykil and Sadky in the Sumy region.
The situation in the Sumy sector remains under the control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and the aforementioned settlements are under the full control of Ukrainian forces.
