The Russian government has extended restrictions on fuel exports. The temporary ban on gasoline and diesel exports will remain in effect until the end of January 2027, according to the Russian government's press service.

Under the decision, the export ban covers gasoline, diesel fuel, marine fuel, and gasoil. The restrictions will take effect on August 1 and remain in force until January 31, 2027.

"Starting September 1, however, the restrictions will no longer apply to diesel fuel, marine fuel, and gasoil exported from Russia by direct manufacturers," the statement said.

The Russian government claims the measures are necessary to maintain stability in the domestic fuel market.

As previously reported, Ukrainian drones have disabled about 40% of Russia's oil refining capacity over the past two months. As a result, around 50 million Russians have faced fuel shortages.

Ukraine's long-range strikes on Russian oil refineries have not only caused fuel shortages at gas stations but have also begun affecting the country's economy. Russian Central Bank Governor Elvira Nabiullina said the fuel crisis is already driving up the prices of goods and services.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has also acknowledged problems with fuel. At the same time, he insisted that the situation is not critical.
