Russia equips drones with additional fuel tanks for attack on Poland - Media

The Russians equipped Gerbera drones with additional fuel tanks, which increased their flight range. This allowed the Russian drones to reach Poland, Militarnyi informs.
According to an analyst familiar with the design of these drones, the standard configuration of the Gerbera includes a single fuel tank located in the tail section.
However, the drones that fell on Polish territory had an additional tank in the nose. It is made of a flexible, multilayer polymer material.
It is noted that such "soft tanks" are lightweight, compact when folded, resistant to vibrations, and widely used in drones.
These tanks are what allowed the Russian drones to reach Poland via Belarus.

Drone attack on Poland
On the night of September 10, Russian forces again launched drones and missiles at Ukraine.
During the attack, some drones entered Polish airspace. Polish air defenses began intercepting the aerial targets.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk stated that a total of 19 Russian drones were detected in the country’s airspace that night, of which four were successfully shot down.
Later, it became known that the wreckage of the downed drones was found in 11 Polish settlements. One of them crashed on the territory of a Territorial Defense Forces unit.
In response to the Russian attack, NATO invoked Article 4, allowing member states to discuss the situation with allies in the North Atlantic Council.
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte called the Alliance’s response to the incident in Poland "very successful." He emphasized that the previous night demonstrated NATO’s readiness to defend every inch of its territory, including airspace.
The Russian Ministry of Defense, responding to NATO countries’ statements, falsely claimed that the drones that attacked Poland supposedly "did not exceed a range of 700 kilometers" and stated that targets on Polish territory "were not planned."
