Russia didn’t reach Dnipropetrovsk region border: What happened to fake report creators

Russia claimed its forces had reached the administrative borders of Ukraine’s Dnipropetrovsk region. However, the statement turned out to be false, according to Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation, and the DeepState project.
What happened before
Recently, Russian military sources began spreading claims that they had supposedly reached the administrative border between Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk regions near the village of Novomykolaivka.
However, Serhii Lysak, head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, stated that such claims were aimed at destabilizing the situation and spreading disinformation.
"This is fake! Both the 'news' and the photo allegedly illustrating it. They do not correspond to reality and were deliberately published by the enemy to intimidate residents of our region, sow panic, and destabilize the situation," Lysak wrote.
What Kovalenko says
"Russian forces have not reached the administrative border of Dnipropetrovsk region," Kovalenko wrote.
Fake story authors eliminated
At the same time, the DeepState project reported that the authors of the fake claim had already been eliminated. Analysts published a photo, stating it showed dead Russian soldiers. According to them, the Russians had captured a Ukrainian military pickup truck and began taking photos with it.
"In the screenshot, you can see one of those who took the photo. The same fate befell his friends... This happened near the village of Troitske, according to our fighters. That’s the whole story," the post reads.
Russia's spring offensive
We previously wrote that the Russian forces intend to enter the Dnipropetrovsk region by May 9.
At the same time, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, also said that Russia had launched a new offensive in Kharkiv and Sumy regions.
