Russian forces are considering several options for offensive operations from the north. The enemy may attempt an attack on the Chernihiv region, said Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Oleksandr Syrskyi.

"We know that Putin has tasked the Russian General Staff with calculating various offensive operation scenarios, including from the territory of Belarus, with the goal of capturing Kyiv and other territories," the general said.

According to him, the Russian General Staff has prepared several scenarios. One of them includes an offensive from Belarusian territory. However, Syrskyi said he does not believe Belarusian leadership would agree to allow Russia to use its territory as a staging ground again. Ukraine, however, is considering this possibility as well.

"The most likely scenario confirmed by several sources is possible offensive actions in the north from Russian territory, from the Bryansk region… not toward Kyiv, but toward the Chernihiv region," the Commander-in-Chief said.

He clarified that Russia would likely attempt to penetrate deeper into Ukrainian territory to force Ukraine to redeploy its forces away from key frontlines, particularly areas where active operations are ongoing. Russia aims to stretch the front line and deprive Ukraine of reserves.

Belarus is building facilities for Russia's "special military operation"

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy previously stated that Belarus is constructing facilities near the border with Ukraine intended for Russia’s so-called special military operation.

These include roads and ammunition storage warehouses. The head of state stressed that such developments must be stopped.

Zelenskyy also previously warned that Russia could use Belarusian territory for a new offensive operation against Ukraine.

At the same time, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko recently stated that he does not want to fight against Ukraine.
