Russian occupiers have committed 137,000 war crimes in Ukraine. These are only the crimes that have been documented, according to a statement from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the United for Justice conference.

"Right now, the pursuit of justice unites all of us. All of us and everyone who works alongside us to protect the lives of people and our country from Russian strikes. As of today, there are at least 137,000 reasons for us to continue this work and to see it through to the end. 137,000. That’s how many war crimes have been committed by Russia to date," the head of state said.

Zelenskyy clarified that these are only the crimes that are known. In the president's view, the number of verdicts should be even greater.

"Crimes against peace and humanity, against our state, against our people, against Ukraine and Ukrainians. And this means that the number of verdicts must not be fewer," he added.

Russia's punishment for invading Ukraine

Earlier, Prosecutor General Andrii Kostin reported that Ukraine records an average of 150 war crimes committed by Russian occupiers every day. According to him, Russia commits a crime against Ukraine every 10 minutes.

Ukraine is working on establishing a special tribunal to punish Russia for the invasion. Ukraine aims to hold the top political and military leadership of Russia accountable.

The creation of a special tribunal for Russia, to address the crimes committed against Ukraine, has already been supported by more than 40 countries.
