The US has started to better understand the Kremlin's position on the war in Ukraine. At the same time, the US administration is trying to independently figure out the reasons for the conflict, states the spokesperson of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, according to the Interfax Russian news agency.

Zakharova believes that thanks to contacts between Russia and the US, Washington has begun to better understand Russia’s arguments regarding the “elimination of the root causes of the Ukrainian crisis.”

“We see that on a number of key issues, they are hearing us. We believe that, based on the information provided, they have come to better understand certain aspects — better understand our arguments about the need to eliminate the root causes of the Ukrainian crisis,” the Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson said.

At the same time, she noted that the new US administration “is trying to understand the details and the essence of the issue on its own, in order to form its own opinion on the situation and possible ways to resolve it.”

“All this requires patience, time, and, of course, a careful and measured approach based on studying the facts... Naturally, we are only at the beginning of the road,” Zakharova concluded.

US-Russia relations

Earlier today, Valerii Klochok, head of the Vezha Center for Civic Analytics and chairman of the Nova Doroha charitable foundation, stated that US President Donald Trump may strengthen Russia in order to weaken China.

Earlier today, the US did not support a UN resolution that mentioned aggression in Ukraine. Alongside the US, Russia and Belarus also voted against the resolution.

Moreover, it was reported that the US has shut down a center that exposed Russian propaganda.
