During attacks on Ukraine, the Russians are changing their tactics for launching unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in an attempt to bypass air defense systems, says Yurii Ihnat, Head of communications for the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

"The current Russian tactic boils down to constantly changing UAV routes and trying to launch them at high altitudes - over 2 kilometers above the ground, then they dive straight down at the target," Ihnat said.

According to him, at that altitude, Shaheds become more visible to Defense Forces radars but are out of reach for small arms, heavy machine guns, and mobile fire teams.

Another trend, Ihnat explained, is that the enemy carries out group drone raids on a single settlement or target.

In addition, along with the Shaheds, a significant number of decoys without warheads - called Parody - are launched to increase the load on air defenses. For example, during recent attacks, the ratio of strike drones to decoys was 60 (real) to 40 (fake).

Attacks on Ukraine

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Russia has regularly launched attacks on Ukraine. Civilian infrastructure is often targeted, creating additional danger for ordinary citizens.

The enemy uses drones, artillery, guided aerial bombs (FABs), and various types of missiles in these attacks. Drone attacks occur every night. For example, on the night of May 27, the enemy launched 60 drones from five different directions.
