The Russian Defense Ministry came up with a cynical justification for the prolonged combined attack on Ukraine, claiming it had carried out a "retaliation strike," propaganda Telegram channel RIA Novosti reports.

The Russian military ministry stated that Russian troops allegedly carried out a massive strike, including with Kinzhal missiles, against enterprises of Ukraine's defense-industrial complex and military airfields.

At the same time, the Russian Defense Ministry traditionally claims that "objectives of the strike were achieved, all designated targets were hit."

Meanwhile, the Russian side does not mention the real consequences of the attack for the civilian population.

In particular, the entrance section of a nine-story residential building was destroyed in the Darnytskyi district of Kyiv as a result of a Russian strike.

According to the latest data, five people are already known to have been killed. About 40 more people were injured, while 20 are considered missing. The rescue and search operation is ongoing at the site.

Attack on Ukraine

On the night of May 14, the Russian army continued a large-scale multi-hour attack on Ukraine — Shahed drones, cruise and ballistic missiles, as well as Kinzhal missiles were launched. The main target was Kyiv, where the number of victims and injured continues to rise.

There is damage at 20 locations in the city. These include residential buildings, schools, a veterinary clinic, and other purely civilian infrastructure.

The Kyiv region also suffered serious destruction. In Kremenchuk, Russians struck energy infrastructure, while in Chornomorsk, port facilities and residential buildings came under attack.

According to the Ukrainian Air Force, during the night, Russia launched 675 drones and 56 missiles of various types against Ukraine.

Overall, since the beginning of the previous day, Russians have used more than 1,560 drones against Ukrainian cities and communities.

Ukrainian Air Force spokesperson Yurii Ihnat stated that this was one of the most powerful strikes during the entire period of full-scale war — the enemy used virtually the entire arsenal of available air attack weapons.
