Russians dropped FAB-250 high-explosive aerial bombs on a residential area in Bilozerske, Donetsk region. Two people were killed and seven others were wounded, including a 16-year-old boy, according to the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor's Office.

Russia struck the town of Bilozerka, Pokrovsk district, on August 11 at around 10:55 p.m. Kyiv time. A residential neighborhood where peaceful residents were in their homes was hit by FAB-250 bombs from a multiple launch rocket system.

A 43-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman were killed.

In addition, three men, three women, and a 16-year-old boy were wounded. The victims were diagnosed with mine blasts and traumatic brain injuries, concussions, shrapnel wounds, lacerations, contusions, and other injuries. All of them received medical assistance.

8 apartment buildings and 6 cars were damaged as a result of the Russian strike.

A pre-trial investigation has been launched into the attack under criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of the laws and customs of war). The prosecutor's office is gathering evidence of another war crime committed by Russia against the civilian population.

FAB-250 from the UMPK

FAB-250 is a Soviet high-explosive aerial bomb weighing about 250 kg, designed to destroy enemy manpower, equipment, and fortifications. The warhead consists of a powerful high-explosive charge that causes significant destruction and damage over a large area.

UMPK (unified planning and correction module) is a Russian kit that converts a conventional dumb aerial bomb into a gliding munition with high-precision weapon elements. The module is equipped with wings to increase flight range and a navigation system.

  • Key features of the FAB-250 with UMPC:
  • Weight: about 250 kg (of which more than 90 kg is explosives).
  • Gliding range: up to 40-50 km (depending on the drop height).
  • Type of damage: high explosive action with a powerful blast wave and fragmentation damage.
  • Launch platform: usually front-line bombers and fighter-bombers (Su-34, Su-35, Su-30).

Such munitions are particularly dangerous because they allow Russian aircraft to strike without entering the Ukrainian air defense zone, remaining at a relatively safe distance.

Russian strike on Donetsk region

Earlier, Russians attacked the Donetsk region with drones and high-explosive aerial bombs (FAB). 8 people were killed.

The Russian army also carried out an air strike on Kostiantynivka. 3 people were killed and one was wounded as a result of the Russian strike.
