Russia attacks Ukraine with missiles and drones overnight: Air defense's report
Russian forces attacked Ukraine with a Kh-59 missile and 8 kamikaze drones. The air defense did not shoot down only one drone, informs the Air Force Commander Mykola Oleshchuk.
"On the night of July 28, 2024, the enemy attacked with a guided Kh-59 missile from the airspace over the Black Sea and 8 Shahed strike UAVs from the Cape Chauda (Crimea)," he said.
According to the general, the Kh-59 missile and seven Shahed-131/136 UAVs were shot down by the mobile fire groups of the Defense Forces and electronic warfare units of the Ukrainian Air Force.
"Almost all aerial targets were destroyed in the Odesa region," Oleshchuk added.
Russian shelling of Ukraine
On July 28, around 1:00 AM, an air raid alert was declared in parts of the regions due to the threat of Russian kamikaze drone attacks.
In the morning, air defense was active in the Odesa region due to the presence of an enemy reconnaissance drone.
