Russia attacks Ukraine with Iskander missile and 78 drones overnight
On the night of September 5, Russia attacked Ukraine with 78 Shaheds and one Iskander-M missile. Ukrainian air defense systems shot down 60 enemy drones, according to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
"On the night of September 5, Russia attacked with one Iskander-M ballistic missile from the occupied Crimea and 78 Shahed-type drones, launch areas being Kursk, Yeysk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk," the report says.
Ukrainian air defense's work
Aviation, anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Air Force and Defense Forces were involved in repelling the Russian air attack.
"As a result of the anti-aircraft battle, 60 Russian drones were shot down. 2 drones returned to Russia and one to Belarus. 15 were lost locally on the territory of Ukraine (presumably under the influence of electronic warfare), no information on damage or casualties was received," Ukrainian military states.
Ukrainian air defenses were operating in Kyiv, Cherkasy, Kirovohrad, Vinnytsia, Kharkiv, Dnipro, Kherson, Poltava, Chernihiv, Zhytomyr, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions.
