Russian troops attacked Ukraine with Iskander missiles and 48 kamikaze drones on the night of October 29. Air Defense shot down 26 of the drones, according to the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

"On the night of October 29, 2024 (from 10:00 PM on October 28, Kyiv time), the enemy struck the city of Kryvyi Rih with an Iskander-M ballistic missile from Crimea and attacked with 48 Shahed-type strike UAVs and unmanned aerial vehicles of unidentified types from the directions of Oryol and Kursk," the message states.

The enemy's aviation continuously launches guided bombs at frontline areas in various directions.

How the air defense performed

The air attack was repelled by anti-aircraft missile troops, aviation, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups of the Air Forces and Defense Forces of Ukraine.

Air defense operations were conducted in the Kyiv, Cherkasy, Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr, Khmelnytskyi, Sumy, Chernihiv, and Poltava regions.

"As of 9:00 AM (Kyiv time - ed.), the downing of 26 enemy UAVs has been confirmed, 20 drones were lost in various locations, and one returned to Russia. Information is being clarified and updated."

Russian attack on Ukraine

On the night of October 29, Russian forces launched attacks on Ukraine using ballistic missiles and kamikaze drones. Dozens of people were injured, and there are fatalities reported.

Specifically, the enemy targeted Kryvyi Rih in the Dnipropetrovsk region with ballistic missiles, hitting a three-story residential building. One person was killed, and 14 others were injured.

In Kyiv, debris from the drones caused a fire and damaged a gas pipeline, resulting in six injuries.

Additionally, Russia shelled Kharkiv, with the State Industrial Building (Dergprom), which is protected by UNESCO, being among the targeted structures.
