Russia attacks road service workers with drone in Kharkiv region

On the evening of September 4, 2025, at around 09:30 PM Kyiv time, Russian forces carried out a drone strike on the village of Khotimlia in the Starosaltiv community, according to Oleh Syniehubov, head of the Kharkiv regional state administration.
According to preliminary information, the strike hit road repair service workers who were present at a site in the village. Local authorities and emergency services quickly arrived at the scene to provide assistance and document the consequences of the attack.
As a result of the Russian drone strike, two 40-year-old men and a 25-year-old civilian woman were killed.
In addition, a 32-year-old man and a 47-year-old man sustained injuries of varying severity. The wounded were promptly hospitalized and are receiving all necessary medical care.
Law enforcement and military personnel are inspecting the site and collecting information to document the aftermath of the attack.
Later, it became known that the number of injured had increased. At 11:00 PM Kyiv time, Oleh Syniehubov reported that another road repair service worker had sought medical assistance.
On September 4, Russian forces launched a missile strike on a checkpoint at the entrance to the settlement of Novoselivka from Chernihiv.
According to the head of the military administration, the strike targeted staff of a humanitarian demining mission who were clearing the area of mines and other explosive devices.
The UN has already reacted to the attack. Humanitarian coordinator in Ukraine Matthias Schmale stated that he was shocked by the Russian strike on the demining mission on the outskirts of Chernihiv on the afternoon of September 4.
