A 24-year-old demining specialist with the international humanitarian organization Norwegian People's Aid (NPA) was killed in a Russian attack on Novopetrivka in the Kherson region, according to the head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, Oleksandr Prokudin.

According to Prokudin, Russian forces attacked Novopetrivka in the Vysokopillia community. As a result of the attack, the 24-year-old demining specialist sustained injuries incompatible with life.

Four more Norwegian People's Aid employees were injured. All of them were hospitalized, with two in critical condition as doctors fight to save their lives.

This was not the first Russian attack targeting humanitarian deminers. In September 2025, a Russian missile struck personnel of a humanitarian demining mission in Chernihiv, killing one person and injuring two others.

In June 2025, an enemy drone attacked State Emergency Service deminers while they were clearing agricultural land in liberated areas of the Izium district in the Kharkiv region. One rescuer was killed.
