Russians attacked two energy facilities in Ukraine overnight on May 18. One of them is located in Poltava region, according to the state energy company Ukrenergo and the head of Poltava Regional Military Administration, Filip Pronin, on Telegram.

Ukrenergo reported that energy infrastructure facilities in eastern and central regions were attacked. No casualties were reported as a result of the attack.

According to energy officials, consumers were not deprived of electricity due to the overnight shelling. Emergency restoration work is ongoing.

The head of Poltava Regional Military Administration specified that Russian drones damaged energy infrastructure in one of the region's districts.

Night drone attack

On the night of May 18, air raid alerts were issued in several regions of Ukraine due to the launch of enemy kamikaze drones.

Later, the Ukrainian Air Force reported that Russia had deployed 13 strike drones over Ukraine. Ukrainian air defense forces destroyed all Shahed drones. Military sources noted that air defense was active in five regions: Kharkiv, Poltava, Vinnytsia, Mykolaiv, and Dnipropetrovsk.

The situation in Ukraine's power system remains challenging. Scheduled power outages are implemented during peak consumption hours (morning and evening).
