Foreign-made components obtained in circumvention of restrictions are still being used to produce the missiles Russia launches at Ukraine. Ukraine is preparing new steps to increase sanctions pressure on Russia, stated Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Russian missiles were recently manufactured

According to the President, investigators are now working to identify which types of missiles and drones were used by Russia during the latest attack.

Preliminary data indicate that Russian forces struck a residential building in Kyiv with a Kh-101 missile.

An examination found that the missile was manufactured in the second quarter of this year. This indicates that Russia continues to import resources and equipment for its military-industrial complex despite global sanctions.

Increasing sanctions pressure

Zelenskyy stressed that stopping sanctions evasion schemes must become a priority for all of Ukraine’s international partners.

"We are preparing steps that could strengthen our joint response: sanctions must become more painful for Russia," the President said.

Massive attack on Ukraine on May 14

On May 14, Russia carried out one of the largest attacks on Ukraine since the start of the full-scale invasion. Ukrainian Air Force spokesman Yurii Ihnat said the enemy used the full range of available weapons systems, focusing the main strike on Kyiv. During the prolonged attack, Russian forces launched more than 1,500 drones and 56 missiles.

Ukraine is initiating an emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council over a massive strike on civilians and the killing of humanitarian personnel by Russian forces. In addition, Ukrainian officials invited foreign ambassadors directly to the strike sites to demonstrate the consequences of Russian terror.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has already held a meeting with military and intelligence leadership. He instructed officials to prepare a response to the Russian attack using all necessary resources of Ukraine’s Defense Forces.
