Russia announces termination of grain deal, says UN
According to CNN, a representative from the UN office in Istanbul has stated that the organization has received a written notification from Russia that the country is terminating its participation in the "grain deal."
However, according to the representative, the UN Secretary-General will not cease efforts to renew it.
"The Secretary-General will not cease his efforts to facilitate unimpeded access to global food and fertilizer markets from both Ukraine and the Russian Federation, in order to maintain global food security," said the UN representative.
The Russian Embassy in Belarus has delivered a note to Ukraine regarding the "grain agreement," stating that it must be completely terminated from July 18.
"The Grain Deal"
Today, Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the Russian dictator, announced that the agreements regarding the "grain deal" have effectively been terminated.
Recall that after the start of the full-scale invasion, the Russians began blocking Ukrainian ports. Later, Turkey and the UN signed separate agreements with Ukraine and Russia regarding a "grain corridor" in the Black Sea, which involves the export of Ukrainian food products.
Following this, the initiative was extended several times. However, every time the deadlines expired, Russia declared that it would not continue the work of the "corridor" and attempted to negotiate exceptions to sanctions or additional opportunities for Russian exports. But they were unsuccessful in achieving the desired outcome.
