Russia and Belarus plan to establish three training centers for joint military preparation, states Gennadiy Lepeshko, head of the Standing Commission on National Security of the Belarusian House of Representatives, according to BelTA.

According to Lepeshko, a training center in Belarus will be established in the Grodno region, while in Russia, such centers will be located in the Nizhny Novgorod and Kaliningrad regions. Personnel are currently being prepared for this in military educational institutions in both Belarus and Russia.

Lepeshko also noted that in 2023, three allied programs in the defense sphere began implementation. One focuses on strengthening border security, while the other two aim to improve the infrastructure of Belarus and Russia to support the regional military grouping.

Additionally, he stated that the two countries have signed "over 160 agreements on joint military activities" through 2025.

The head of the House of Representatives mentioned that the air forces of Belarus and Russia periodically conduct "joint patrols of the air borders of the Union State in Belarusian airspace."

He emphasized that this is "extremely important because American strategic and tactical aviation has long operated in the airspace of Poland and the Baltic states near the border of the Union State."

At the same time, Lepeshko claims that all joint exercises with Russia are of an "exclusively defensive nature."

Russia and Belarus cooperation

Belarus is one of Russia's most significant supporters. Russia has stationed its troops and military equipment in Belarus, and Minsk often aligns with and mirrors Moscow's policies.

In 2022, following the Zapad exercises on Belarusian territory, Russian troops began their full-scale invasion of Ukraine, with Russian military equipment entering Ukraine from Belarus as well.

It has also been previously reported that Belarus and Russia are preparing for joint military exercises, Zapad-2025.

At the same time, Ukrainian border guards note that, while they do not currently see an immediate threat from Belarus, they do not rule out the movement of forces during the Belarusian-Russian military exercises.
