Russia amassing reserves and intensifying 'motorized assaults': Situation in Kharkiv region

The Russian army continues to rotate units involved in assault operations in the Kharkiv region, states Pavlo Shamshyn, spokesperson for the Kharkiv Operational-Tactical Grouping, during the national telethon's live broadcast.
In addition, the enemy is concentrating and accumulating reserves in the areas of Vovchansk and the settlement of Dvorichne, located north of Kupiansk.
According to him, Russia has not abandoned its idea of creating a so-called buffer zone along the Ukrainian border.
To achieve this, the Russian forces are constantly rotating assault units and bringing in reserves to strategically important areas.
Shamshyn also noted that active motorized assault operations by the Russian army have been ongoing for a long time and show no signs of decreasing.
"That’s why we’re now seeing fewer burned armored vehicles, but more destroyed ‘motor junk.’ And considering that the cost of a Chinese motorcycle, like the life of a Russian soldier in Russia, is extremely low, we can expect the Russians to continue these ‘banzai attacks’ specifically on motorcycles," the spokesperson explained.
He emphasized that these motorized assaults are a kind of substitute for traditional assault operations, as due to a shortage of armored vehicles, the Russian troops are forced to switch to more mobile but more vulnerable means of attack.
Situation in the Kharkiv direction
On May 20, Russian forces made another attempt to breach Ukraine’s state border near the village of Stroivka in the Kharkiv region.
According to the Ukrainian military, the Russian troops tried to infiltrate the Kharkiv region with a group of assault troops, which was subsequently destroyed.
In addition, in the Kharkiv direction, the enemy attempted to launch attacks three times in the area of Vovchansk and toward Stroivka.
