Russian propaganda outlets are spreading another wave of fake claims about alleged "atrocities by the Ukrainian Armed Forces" in Myrnohrad. There is no evidence to support these accusations, and the stories are based solely on testimony from a single resident of an occupied area, according to the Center for Countering Disinformation.

The Center says it has recorded the continuation of Russia’s disinformation campaign against the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Russian propaganda resources claim that Ukrainian troops deliberately starved the population of Myrnohrad by shelling those who were delivering food.

They also allege that civilians became "targets for all types of weapons." As before, there is no evidence of these supposed crimes. All materials rely on accounts from one resident who is currently in an occupied territory and is dependent on Russian forces.

"The systematic spread of such fakes helps the Kremlin justify the continuation of the war against Ukraine and divert global attention from crimes committed by Russian troops," the Center said.

Russian propaganda targeting Ukraine’s military

The Center has repeatedly stressed that Russian propaganda is systematically attempting to discredit Ukraine and its military by spreading fake stories that baselessly link the Ukrainian Armed Forces to criminal incidents.

In particular, propagandists are using artificial intelligence to create videos on behalf of Ukrainian soldiers. AI-generated clips have appeared on social media in which characters posing as servicemen emotionally claim shortages of food and equipment.

Previously, RBC-Ukraine reported on another Russian propaganda fake alleging that Ukrainian soldiers are ordered to shoot their own troops who try to leave their positions or surrender. These claims were spread by anonymous sources without any documents, photos, or official confirmation.

The Center emphasized that allegations of shooting one’s own troops are a mirror projection of practices used by the Russian army, which Kremlin propaganda attempts to attribute to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
