Russian authorities have acknowledged a "breakthrough" in another district of the Kursk region, with fighting now reaching the Belovsky district, according to the acting governor of the Kursk region, Alexey Smirnov, on Telegram.

"Yesterday, a Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance group (SRG) was reported to have entered the territory of the Belovsky district, but our defenders managed to stabilize the situation," Smirnov wrote.

He also claimed that, as of now, there are no ongoing battles in the Belovsky and Oboyansky districts of the Kursk region.

It is worth noting that yesterday, Russian so-called "war correspondents" complained about a new attempted breakthrough in the Kursk region, specifically in the Belovsky district, south of the city of Sudzha. This marks a new direction, as previous fighting had been concentrated in the Sudzha and Korenevo areas.

Yesterday, Russian propagandists claimed that Ukrainian forces had allegedly "taken control" of the area around the village of Belaya. They also reported the arrival of a new brigade and equipment.

Kursk breakthrough

Nearly a week ago, on August 6, Russians reported a breach of the border by Ukrainian forces in the Kursk region. For the past six days, fighting has continued in the border areas of the region, with propagandists complaining about the advance deeper into Russian territory.

Russian authorities have been downplaying the scale of the fighting. Recently, an anti-terrorist operation regime was imposed in the Bryansk, Kursk, and Belgorod regions.

Ukraine has remained largely silent on the situation. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the war is being pushed back onto Ukrainian territory. However, videos of Ukrainian fighters in several settlements in the Kursk region have surfaced online.
