Russia has accused Ukraine of violating the Easter ceasefire after a staged provocation in Donetsk. The Center for Countering Disinformation (CPD) on Telegram reports that the goal of this disinformation campaign was to create the image of Ukraine as a violator of peace.

After Russia announced the Easter ceasefire, the situation on the front did not improve. On the contrary, shelling and assaults continued.

Russian forces have not honored their own promises and even staged a provocation in Donetsk to place the blame for the violation of the declared ceasefire on Ukraine.

As reported by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, within the first six hours of the Easter ceasefire, Russia carried out 387 shellings and 19 assault actions.

In addition, 290 instances of drone attacks were recorded. In the past few days, there have been another 59 shellings and 5 assault actions by Russian units on various parts of the front.

The Center for Countering Disinformation (CCD) emphasizes that the aim of these manipulations is to create an image of Putin as a peacemaker and attempt to accuse Ukraine of unwillingness to pursue peace, while it is Russia that continues aggressive actions despite the declared truce.

Zelenskyy stressed that Ukraine will respond in kind to violations by Russia and will not agree to provocations.

It is worth reminding that yesterday, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin declared the "Easter truce." According to him, it was effective from 6:00 PM on April 19 until midnight on April 21.

Putin also stated that he had ordered all combat actions to cease.

The Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Oleksandr Syrskyi, reported to the president that between 6:00 PM yesterday and midnight today, Russia had carried out 387 shellings and 19 assault actions. Russian forces used drones 290 times.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Putin does not fully control his army, or the situation proves that Russia has no real intention to end the war and only seeks favorable media publicity.

"It’s good that at least there were no air raids," he said.
