Zelenskyy: Russia broke its own ceasefire, Ukraine gathers evidence

Ukraine is preparing evidence for its partners regarding Russia’s violation of the so-called ceasefire declared on April 19. Russia failed to uphold even its own promise, according to the Telegram post by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
"We are recording every violation by Russia of its own promise of complete silence for the entire Easter period and are ready to provide our partners with the relevant information," he wrote.
Zelenskyy outlined several reasons why the so-called ceasefire, declared by Russia itself, was broken by its own actions.
"Either Putin does not fully control his army, or the situation proves that Russia has no intention of truly moving toward ending the war and is only seeking favorable media coverage. At least there were no air raid alerts," Zelenskyy noted.
Easter ceasefire
On April 19, Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin initiated a so-called ceasefire. It was declared to last from 6:00 p.m. on April 19 to midnight on April 21. However, despite Putin’s own decree, Russian forces continued to shell Ukrainian military positions at the front, as well as civilian areas and settlements.
According to the president, Russia intensified its attacks on the morning of April 20, with the most active fighting taking place in the Pokrovsk and Siversk directions.
