Rubio says El Salvador will accept criminals deported from the US

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that El Salvador has offered to accept criminals deported from the United States who come from anywhere in the world, including American citizens, reports Bloomberg.
President Nayib Bukele "as a sign of extraordinary friendship" to the US agreed to the most unprecedented and unusual migration deal in the world. "More details will be forthcoming,” Rubio said.
He made the statement during a tour of Latin America, after a meeting with El Salvador's President Nayib Bukele.
Bloomberg notes that US President Donald Trump is seeking agreements with Latin American countries to bring back people expelled from the United States as part of the new White House administration's deportation campaign. These include a promise made last week by Venezuela to allow flights with its citizens.
At the same time, Rubio's statement immediately raised the question of the legality of the expulsion of American citizens.
