The US doubts the possibility of a quick end to the war in Ukraine through negotiations, as there are currently no signs of an impending settlement, states US Secretary of State Marco Rubio during a conversation with journalists.
According to the American politician, it is currently difficult to assess whether a peaceful path to resolving the conflict is realistic.
"I don't know if negotiated peace is achievable in Ukraine. That's what we're trying to find out. I don't think anyone here is claiming that we are on the verge of a negotiated settlement," Rubio noted.
US President Donald Trump made a new statement about ending the war in Ukraine during his speech at the UN General Assembly.
According to him, the cessation of hostilities could happen much sooner than expected.
Furthermore, the US stated that it is approaching trilateral negotiations on the Ukrainian issue.
In particular, Speaker of the House of Representatives Mike Johnson noted that the Trump administration is already very close to organizing such a negotiation process.
