Romanian President convents Security Council to discuss Russia's aggression against Ukraine
Romanian President Klaus Iohannis has convened a meeting of the country's Supreme National Defense Council. Among other things, the meeting will discuss Russia's aggression against Ukraine, according to the press service of the Romanian presidential administration.
The meeting of the National Security Council of Romania will be held on Wednesday, February 21.
The agenda of the Council meeting includes the development of the security situation in the Black Sea region in the context of Russia's aggression against Ukraine and the consequences for Romania.
In addition, the meeting will discuss progress in defense planning, including the implementation of weapons programs and efforts to increase manning and retention.
Other topical issues in the field of national security will also be discussed.
Black Sea mine clearance
Earlier, Bulgaria's Defense Minister Todor Tagarev said that the country's agreement with Romania and Türkiye to establish a mine action group in the Black Sea would soon be signed. After that, the mission will begin.
On January 11, Turkish Defense Minister Yasar Güler, his Romanian counterpart Angel Tilvar, and Bulgarian Deputy Defense Minister Atanas Zapryanov signed a memorandum of understanding in Istanbul to form a trilateral initiative to dispose of explosives.
In addition, Bulgarian Defense Minister Admiral Emil Eftimov stated that Bulgaria, Romania, and Turkey will begin demining the Black Sea in April-May this year.
