Romania and Poland declare air alerts after Russian drones enter airspace

On the evening of September 13, Romania and Poland declared air alerts due to the threat of Russian attack drones. The unmanned aircraft entered the airspace of both NATO countries, reports Digi24.
The Romanian General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations sent a warning to the northern part of Tulcea County about the possibility of falling objects from the airspace.

According to preliminary data, the air alert is expected to last approximately 90 minutes.
The same situation occurred in Poland. Around 7:15 PM local time, an air alert was announced in eastern Poland.

Authorities warned the counties of Lublin Voivodeship about the aerial threat.
Russian drone attack on Poland
On the night of September 10, during a massive Russian attack on Ukraine, about 20 Russian drones entered Polish airspace. Polish air defense managed to shoot down only four of the drones.
According to the latest information, fragments of 16 Russian drones that entered Poland during the attack have been found. One drone fell on the territory of a military base.
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte called the Alliance's response to the incident in Poland "very successful." He emphasized that the previous night demonstrated NATO’s readiness to defend every inch of its territory, including its airspace.
Following the Russian attack, NATO invoked Article 4. This allows member states to discuss the situation with allies in the North Atlantic Council.
