Reuters reveals key issues US Treasury Secretary plans to discuss in Ukraine

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent will visit Ukraine and may discuss Ukrainian rare earth metals, Reuters reports.
An unnamed source revealed that Bessent plans to discuss US access to Ukraine's rare earth metals, energy resources, and energy assets.
The source also added that during Bessent's meetings with Ukrainian officials, the future of some state-owned enterprises in Ukraine will be discussed.
Reuters highlights that certain rare earth metals are used to make magnets for electric vehicle motors, cell phones, missile systems, and other electronics. There are no suitable substitutes for these metals, and demand is expected to grow.
Bessent's visit
Earlier, Bloomberg reported that US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent plans to visit Ukraine this week. The visit will be part of negotiations on ensuring US access to critical minerals.
Later, US President Donald Trump confirmed that he was sending Bessent to Ukraine. Bessent is expected to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Trump also emphasized that Russia's war against Ukraine must come to an end.
