US President Donald Trump confirmed the upcoming visit of Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent to Ukraine in the near future, according to Trump's post on X.

According to Trump, during his visit to Ukraine, Bessent will meet with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

"This war must and will end soon - too much death and destruction. The US has spent billions of dollars globally, with little to show. When America is strong, the world is at peace," Trump wrote.

Shortly before this, media outlets began reporting on Bessent's planned visit to Ukraine. According to Bloomberg, Bessent intends to visit Ukraine this week for initial talks regarding US access to critical minerals.

Trump's proposal on rare earth metals

Earlier, Trump stated that Washington is interested in Ukrainian rare earth metals. According to him, the US is allegedly open to a deal with Ukraine involving the acquisition of rare earth metals and other resources in exchange for weapons supplies.

In response, Zelenskyy confirmed that Ukraine is open to proposals from the US.

Additionally, today Trump claimed that Ukraine has "essentially agreed" to provide the US with rare earth metals worth $500 billion as payment for the military aid Washington has provided to Kyiv.

It is worth noting that rare earth metals are a group of 17 metals found in small quantities in nature. They are mainly used in electronics production, aerospace, medicine, and other sectors. Ukraine holds deposits of graphite, uranium, titanium, and lithium, which are strategically valuable.
