"Four people were rescued — a family from the Brovary area: a mother, father, grandmother, and a five-year-old child. They were pulled from under the rubble after an enemy attack. All received medical assistance and are in the hospital," the State Emergency Service said.
Rescuers also reported that attacks in the Kyiv region caused fires in residential buildings and outbuildings in the Brovary, Obukhiv, and Boryspil areas.
"Rescuers worked at 11 locations. The fires were extinguished," the press service added.
Attack on the Kyiv region and the capital on January 9
Overnight on January 9, the enemy carried out a massive attack on Ukraine, including the Kyiv region and the capital. Numerous residential buildings, critical infrastructure facilities, vehicles, warehouses, garages, and other sites were damaged.
As reported by the Kyiv Regional State Administration overnight, people in the Brovary district of the Kyiv region were hospitalized with carbon monoxide poisoning that occurred during a fire caused by the attacks.
An attack on Slavutych was also reported, after which the city experienced a blackout as the enemy struck a critical infrastructure facility.
In Kyiv itself, the situation is also difficult. Emergency services are operating at full capacity: buildings are damaged, there are numerous fires, fatalities, and injuries. Among the dead is a medical worker who arrived to provide assistance to the injured. His colleagues were also injured.
Russian forces attacked the capital overnight on January 9 using drones, ballistic missiles, and cruise missiles. Overall, there were numerous strikes on other cities across Ukraine with the same objective: damaging critical infrastructure during severe weather and freezing temperatures in order to put pressure on Ukraine amid peace talks.
