Record purse, record tax: How much Usyk really takes home after deductions

By defeating Daniel Dubois, Oleksandr Usyk not only cemented his name in the history of world boxing but also secured a record-breaking purse of over $130 million. However, a significant portion of this amount will not remain in the athlete's pocket, as the law requires the boxer to pay substantial taxes. Here's how much Oleksandr Usyk has to pay in taxes in Ukraine and what amount will remain from his winnings.
How much did Usyk earn for the fight against Dubois?
Usyk's payout for the rematch with Daniel Dubois in London is estimated at $132.28 million.
It's worth noting that the total prize fund for the bout was approximately $203.5 million, with a 65/35 split in favor of Oleksandr Usyk, resulting in over $71 million for Dubois.
How much tax does Usyk have to pay?
As Oleksandr Usyk is a tax resident of Ukraine, he is required to pay taxes on his winnings, in particular:
Personal Income Tax (PIT): $23.81 million

Additional expenses
In addition to taxes, Usyk's payout is also subject to other costs related to organizing the bout.

According to some estimates, these expenses could reduce the amount by another $4-5 million.
