Putin wants to 'diplomatically' acquire 30% of Ukrainian territory - Zelenskyy
At the moment, dialogue with Russian President Vladimir Putin is meaningless, as he does not seek to end the war diplomatically, stated President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at a press conference.
Putin wants diplomacy, but only under the condition of receiving 30% of Ukrainian territory, Zelenskyy emphasized.
"Dialogue with Putin is currently meaningless; he does not want to end the war diplomatically. He wants 'diplomatically,' but only if we give him 30% of our land," Zelenskyy stated.
Ukraine-Russia negotiations
Ukraine has legally prohibited peace negotiations with Russia regarding the war. However, Kyiv is preparing to present its plan at the second Peace Summit, hoping that Russia might participate in the event.
Analysts from the Institute for the Study of War emphasize that Ukraine's demands for a peace plan are justified, while Russia's demands contradict international law.
Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba mentioned that Ukraine could negotiate with Russia at a certain stage.
Recently, British intelligence reported that there are many people in Russia that are focused on the destruction of Ukraine as a state. Meanwhile, the Kremlin authorities claim a supposed "willingness to negotiate".
