The Kremlin once again confirmed that it is not planning any "freeze" in the war against Ukraine, according to a statement by Yuri Ushakov, aide to Russian President Vladimir Putin, Vesti reports.
Russia does not want a 'freeze' of the war
Ushakov said that a "freeze of the conflict" between Russia and Ukraine along the line of contact is unacceptable to Moscow.
"You know our position; it rules this out," he said.
He was responding to a question about a number of countries seeking a "freeze" of the military confrontation between Russia and Ukraine along the line of contact.
The Russian leader's aide also said that diplomacy is always conducted "quietly." Anything done publicly, he added, already falls into the category of public statements.
Does Russia want to end the war?
RBC-Ukraine previously reported that Russia allegedly would never agree to a "freeze" of hostilities in Ukraine without addressing the "root causes" of the war.
It also emerged that Putin likely used a meeting with the president of Kazakhstan to justify continuing the war against Ukraine.
In addition, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev personally proposed to Putin that Russia "freeze" the war against Ukraine and return to the terms of the 2022 Istanbul negotiations.
