Russian President Vladimir Putin allegedly wants to look into Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's proposal to halt strikes on civilian targets, stated the Kremlin leader while speaking to journalists.

"As for the proposal not to strike civilian infrastructure, we need to look into it," Putin said.

As an argument, he cited the Russian strike on civilians in Sumy that killed 35 people. The Kremlin leader claimed that Russia had targeted the university's "congress center,” where, according to him, individuals who had “committed crimes in the Kursk region" were being awarded.

Putin also mentioned that his forces had recently struck hangars belonging to an agricultural enterprise in a small settlement in the Odesa region. There, he claimed, Ukraine, with foreign supervisors," planned not only to produce but also to test a new missile system.

"So, is that a civilian facility? It’s civilian, but it was used for military purposes," the Kremlin head claimed.

Putin also indirectly referenced the Russian strike on Kryvyi Rih that killed nine children, saying that the Russian army had targeted a restaurant where Ukrainian military personnel were supposedly holding a meeting.

"This (the ceasefire proposal — ed.) needs to be looked into, it's all a subject for thorough review. Perhaps, bilaterally, as a result of a dialogue, we do not rule that out," he added.

Zelenskyy's proposal

Yesterday, on April 20, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy proposed that Russia completely stop all long-range drone and missile strikes on civilian infrastructure for at least 30 days.

The head of state emphasized that such a ceasefire format is easy to implement.

This comes after Russia broke its promise of an Easter ceasefire.
