Putin preparing new 'cold war' against Ukraine - German Foreign Minister
Russian President Vladimir Putin is preparing a new "cold war" against Ukraine, states German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock.
Baerbock emphasized that in recent weeks and months, Russian forces have deliberately attacked Ukraine's heating and water supply infrastructure.
"The aim is for people to freeze to death in the winter," she noted.
According to the German Foreign Minister, Putin is aiming for an even larger "cold war" than in previous years.
She stated that the EU's response should be a new defensive shield for Ukraine.
Additionally, Baerbock mentioned that Germany plans to provide Ukraine with four more IRIS-T air defense systems and additional Gepard anti-aircraft guns by the end of the year.
She stressed that air defense "remains the most crucial thing for protecting lives in Ukraine."
Support for Ukraine from Germany
Recently, Germany provided Ukraine with a new package of military aid. This included an IRIS-T air defense system and Vector drones.
Germany also announced the transfer of an additional Patriot air defense system to Ukraine, having already provided a quarter of its stock of these systems.
Additionally, Britain and Germany have recently signed a new defense agreement centered on supporting Ukraine. Both countries have confirmed their commitment to supporting Ukraine for as long as necessary.
