Natalia Dmitrieva, the sister of Russian negotiator Kirill Dmitriev, visited Ukraine in February 2025 on an American passport, reports American journalist Katie Livingston citing her own sources.

According to border records, Dmitrieva arrived in Ukraine on February 8 and left on February 12. Her visit happened a few days before the planned talks between Russia and the United States that were to take place in Saudi Arabia on a potential settlement of the war.

One source said that Natalia left Ukraine for the United States in early 2022, after Russia's full-scale invasion began, with her mother. The purpose of her trip to Ukraine remains unknown.

“Although older records showed that both Natalia and her mother, Tamara Shevchenko, previously held Ukrainian passports, they appeared to travel to Ukraine over the last several years using American passports. It is unclear how Natalia and Tamara have American passports or whether they are currently living in the US,” Livingston writes.

Property of Dmitriev family

The Dmitriev family may likely own more assets in Europe and Ukraine than previously known.

Kirill Dmitriev is a longtime ally of Vladimir Putin. He lived in the United States for more than a decade, graduating from Stanford and Harvard. Then he joined Putin's inner circle.

“His wife is a close friend of Putin’s daughter, and Dmitriev himself has been deeply trusted by the Kremlin for years. He now runs the Russian Direct Investment Fund and plays a key role representing Moscow in backchannel peace talks between Washington, Kyiv, and Moscow – a role that has leaned on his business background,” the journalist notes.

Despite Kirill's well-known ties to the United States, the status of his sister and mother as American citizens is a new fact. Natalia's recent visits to Ukraine also came as a surprise.

Dmitriev's visit to the US

In early April, Dmitriev, visited Washington, DC. He met with US President Donald Trump's envoy Steve Witkoff.

As a result of the meetings, Dmitriev made several statements.
