Ukrainian drones destroy Russian S-400 launcher used to strike Kyiv

Ukrainian forces destroyed an S-400 launcher with FP-1 drones on Thursday, September 17. The launcher was used by Russian forces to strike Kyiv, according to Fire Point.
"On September 17, Ukrainian forces used FP-1 drones to destroy an S-400 launcher that the Russians had modified to strike ground targets. The missile system was intended to strike Kyiv and had previously been used in attacks on the capital," the company said.
The Russian launcher was destroyed near the village of Poroshino in Russia's Bryansk region.
What is known about Russia's S-400 air defense system
The S-400 Triumf is a Russian long- and medium-range surface-to-air missile system designed to engage aircraft, drones, and cruise missiles. The system is also reportedly capable of intercepting certain ballistic targets.
The S-400 includes radar stations, a command post, and launchers. The system uses missiles of different types and ranges, with a maximum claimed engagement range of up to 400 km against certain aerial targets.
The first S-400 systems entered service with the Russian military in 2007. Russia uses them as one of the key elements of its air defense network and has deployed them on the occupied Crimean Peninsula.
Earlier, Ukrainian forces struck two S-400 launchers near Vygonichi in Russia's Bryansk region.
In addition, Ukraine's Defense Ministry reported that Ukrainian forces struck 17 air defense systems in August, including an S-400 system.
