Russian President Vladimir Putin said he "knows nothing" about a Russian drone crashing into a residential building in Galați, Romania. He suggested that it could have been a Ukrainian drone, TASS reports.

First, according to TASS, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov confirmed that the head of Russia was "aware of the incident" involving a drone in Romania.

Later, Putin himself told journalists that he knew nothing about the incident. "I know nothing about the drone in Romania. I have no idea at all what you’re talking about," he said, adding that he had "just been briefed" on the situation.

He then suggested that it was "most likely" that the incident in Romania involved a Ukrainian drone. According to him, no one can determine the origin of the drone until the wreckage has been examined.

"Ukrainian drones have flown into various countries, but the first reaction is always: the Russians are striking," Putin said.

He also added that Russia is "ready to conduct an objective investigation" if it is provided with the wreckage of the drone that fell in Romania.

Earlier, RBC-Ukraine reported that on the night of May 29, during another Russian attack on Ukraine, a Geran-2 drone crossed the border and hit a multi-storey residential building in the Romanian city of Galați.

A fire broke out on the 10th floor of the building, and two people were injured. The drone type was confirmed by Romania’s Ministry of National Defense.

The incident prompted a strong international response, with NATO, the EU, Ukraine, and the United States calling for a firm reaction.
