It is possible to agree on an acceptable way to end Russia’s war against Ukraine "if common sense prevails." If not, everything will have to be resolved by force, Russian President Vladimir Putin made this statement during a briefing following his visit to China.

According to him, "if common sense prevails," it is possible to agree on an acceptable way to end the war.

"Moreover, we see the mood of the current US administration, we see calls to find these solutions, we see light at the end of the tunnel. If not, everything will have to be resolved by force," said the Russian leader.

Russia’s conditions for a 'lasting' peace in Ukraine

Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov outlined what he considers the Kremlin’s conditions that would guarantee a "lasting" peace.

According to the Russian foreign minister, achieving lasting peace requires recognizing and enshrining in international law the new 'territorial realities' that emerged after the annexation of Crimea, Sevastopol, the DPR and LPR (Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics - ed), as well as the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions into Russia following the so-called "referendums."

"There must be a guaranteed neutral, non-aligned, and non-nuclear status for Ukraine. These conditions were enshrined in the 1990 Declaration of State Sovereignty of Ukraine, and it was on this basis that Russia and the international community recognized Ukrainian statehood," Lavrov said.
