US President Donald Trump suggested that Russian President Vladimir Putin does not want to end the war in Ukraine.

The American leader said that Putin had no reason to shell Ukraine in recent days. This raises suspicions that the Kremlin leader does not want to end the war and that he must be treated differently.

"There was no reason for Putin to be shooting missiles into civilian areas, cities, and towns over the last few days. It makes me think that maybe he doesn’t want to stop the war; he’s just tapping me along, and he has to be dealt with differently, through 'Banking' or 'Secondary Sanctions?' Too many people are dying!!!" Trump wrote.

The US president also dismissed media reports suggesting that Ukraine must regain its territory, including Crimea, to stop the war.

"The very biased and untalented writer for The Times followed his Editor’s demands and wrote that Ukraine should get back territory, including, I suppose, Crimea, and other ridiculous requests, in order to stop the killing that is worse than anything since World War II. Why doesn’t this lightweight reporter say that it was Obama who made it possible for Russia to steal Crimea from Ukraine without even a shot being fired," the post read.

Additionally, Trump noted that no matter what deal he makes regarding Russia and Ukraine, even if it's the best deal in history, The New York Times " will speak BADLY of it."

Trump meets Zelenskyy, Putin ready for unconditional talks

Today, US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy were in the Vatican for the funeral of Pope Francis. Before the ceremony, they held a brief meeting where they discussed "sensitive issues."

"Of course, totally, it's about how to bring peace closer and how it resulted in positive outcomes in Paris and London," Zelenskyy told reporters.

Furthermore, less than an hour ago, it became known that Putin, during yesterday's meeting with Trump’s Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, stated that Russia is ready for negotiations with Ukraine "without any preconditions." This was reported by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
