US President Donald Trump said that Vladimir Putin should have won the war in Ukraine within a week, yet it has now dragged on for nearly four years, as he remarked while speaking to journalists at the White House.

"Look, I'm very disappointed because Vladimir (Putin) and I had a very good relationship. Probably still do. I don't know why he continues with this war. This war has been so bad for him," Trump said.

According to the US president, Putin is entering the fourth year of a war "he should have won in one week."

"He's now going to soon be into his fourth year. He's lost a million and a half soldiers, probably close. Certainly in terms of wounded and no legs and no arms and all the things that happened in horrible wars. It's a horrible war," Trump emphasized.

Trump added that this is "the biggest thing that's happened since World War II in terms of death".

Since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, the country has reportedly lost between 4,000 and 9,000 tanks, along with around 20,000 armored vehicles.

On average, Russia lost about 950 troops per day in September, marking a moderate increase compared to the August average, though still below the levels seen in spring and summer.

According to a NATO representative, average daily losses in 2025 amount to roughly 1,200 personnel. The total number of Russian casualties has now exceeded 1.1 million soldiers, including more than 250,000 killed in action.

Ukraine’s General Staff reports that as of now, Russia’s total combat losses since the February 2022 invasion stand at approximately 1,125,150 personnel, including 1,200 in the past 24 hours.

Meanwhile, the number of clashes along the front line has recently increased, with the Pokrovsk direction remaining the hottest area of fighting.
