Vladimir Putin brought the war onto Russian territory by escalating the situation and prompting a mirror response from Ukraine, according to EU Commissioner for Defense and Space Andrius Kubilius.

Outcomes of escalation by Kremlin

Commissioner Kubilius noted that Russia's constant escalation only provokes mirror responses.

As a result of his policies, Putin has effectively destroyed most of his oil refineries and cut the country off from international air routes.

The European commissioner stressed that Russian intelligence headquarters could be the next targets for Ukrainian forces.

"Now KGB & GRU will wait for a Ukrainian drone to fly into their offices," the politician said.

Russian military and political pressure on Ukraine

As recently reported, Russian President Vladimir Putin has cynically justified new strikes on Ukraine.

According to him, massive attacks on civilian and critical infrastructure are allegedly a "mirror response" to Ukrainian drone strikes on Russian oil refineries.

At the same time, the Kremlin chief invoked the "Pandora's box," but it was he who opened it.

In addition, Russia stepped up its aerial terror after a secret visit to Moscow by CIA Director John Ratcliffe.

While the US side called for peace talks, the Kremlin interpreted Washington's calls as a sign of Western weakness and decided to increase pressure on Kyiv.
