Providers in Brazil started restoring access to X
The social media platform X has begun to return to Brazil after being unavailable for more than a month due to a conflict between its owner Elon Musk and a judge from the country’s Supreme Court, reports AP.
Internet providers have started restoring access to the platform after Supreme Court Judge Alexandre de Moraes authorized the lifting of the ban on X on Tuesday.
Blocking of X in Brazil
At the end of August, Brazil's Supreme Court ordered an immediate suspension of X (formerly Twitter) within the country. Additionally, fines were imposed for using the social media platform through VPNs. Judge Alexandre de Moraes made this decision after the 24-hour deadline he set for X to appoint an official representative in Brazil expired.
The company, owned by billionaire Elon Musk, subsequently appointed a legal representative in the country.
To continue operations, fines were paid; however, the Supreme Court claims that the company paid them to the wrong bank.
