The position of Ukraine's ambassador to Hungary has been vacant since July 2022 due to strained relations between the countries. In July 2022, Volodymyr Zelenskyy dismissed Lyudmyla Nepop from this position.
In August 2023, Hungary announced that it had approved Fedir Shandor's candidacy for the post of the new Ukrainian ambassador.
Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy dismissed and appointed a number of ambassadors, including the ambassadors to Slovenia, Lithuania, Japan, and China.
Furthermore, the Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the UN, Sergiy Kyslytsya, was dismissed.
Recently, Zelenskyy noted that Ukraine's new representative to the UN will be Andriy Melnyk, who had previously served as ambassador to Germany and Brazil
