Prince Harry touches down in Kyiv: Here's what he wore

Prince Harry arrived in Kyiv on an unannounced visit. He was invited by the Ukrainian government. Early photos from the train station show the Duke of Sussex opting for a modest and practical look, reports The Guardian.

For the visit, he chose a black Outdoor Research jacket with an "Invictus Games" patch and dark jeans.
The Invictus Games emblem was deliberate because it was Harry who founded these international competitions for veterans and military personnel.
His choice to forgo formal suits or royal regalia emphasized that his visit to Ukraine is primarily a mission to support servicemen.

Together with the team from the Invictus Games charity, Harry plans to present new initiatives for the rehabilitation of wounded soldiers.
According to him, the ultimate goal is to ensure access to assistance in all regions of the country.
"We cannot stop the war but what we can do is do everything we can to help the recovery process," he said in an interview with The Guardian during the overnight train journey to the capital.
Importance of rehabilitation
This year, the war in Ukraine has already caused permanent disability in approximately 130,000 people.
Therefore, the government has prioritized sports rehabilitation in its veteran assistance policies.
The idea for the trip emerged after Harry's chance meeting with Olha Rudneva, founder of the Lviv center Superhumans, which specializes in treating wounded soldiers with amputations.

"I bumped into Olha in New York. It was a chance meeting and I asked her what I could do to help. She said 'the biggest impact you have is coming to Kyiv'. I had to check with my wife and the British government to make sure it was OK. Then the official invitation came," he recounted.
The prince added that Kyiv will be the first place where he sees the real consequences of the war.
"In Lviv, you don't see much of the war. It is so far west. This is the first time we will see the real destruction of the war," said the Duke, who also made an unannounced visit to Ukraine in April.
Invictus Games and support for Ukraine
Ukraine first participated in the Invictus Games in 2017. However, the need for such competitions has sharply increased since the war began.
Harry recalled how, in 2022, the Ukrainian team received special support during the games in The Hague.
This time, the duke plans to visit the National Museum of the History of Ukraine in the Second World War and meet with 200 veterans who were invited to the event.
He will also meet with Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko.
