Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and US President Donald Trump met ahead of Pope Francis' funeral. According to media reports, they agreed to hold another meeting after the ceremony, Sky News informs.
Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a brief meeting in the Vatican ahead of Pope Francis' funeral.
According to sources from Sky News, both sides also agreed to have another conversation after the farewell ceremony for the Pontiff.
The meeting took place shortly after Trump’s statement that a peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia is "very close."
There has been no official confirmation of the details of the conversation at this time.
As a reminder, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with US President Donald Trump on April 26. Both leaders are in Rome for the funeral of Pope Francis.
Trump and Zelenskyy appeared at the funeral ceremony along with other leaders at St. Peter’s Square at the start of the event.
Yesterday, Trump stated that he "might" meet with President Zelenskyy in Rome.
Death and funeral of the Pope
As a reminder, on the morning of April 21, it was announced that Pope Francis had passed away.
By the evening, the Vatican confirmed the official cause of death. According to their information, the Pope suffered a stroke, after which he fell into a coma and passed away.
Pope Francis' funeral will take place on Saturday, April 26, at 10:00 AM local time, 11:00 AM Kyiv time.
