Ukrainian officials are working to ensure that NATO leaders make the "strongest possible" decision on Ukraine following the NATO summit, according to Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Ihor Zhovkva.

"Ukraine wants the decision of the summit in Washington to be strong. Ukraine deserves a strong decision. Ukraine is doing everything necessary to become a NATO member. It is doing it on the battlefield - and we are fighting with weapons supplied by NATO member states. Additionally, we are achieving interoperability with the armed forces of NATO countries," emphasized Zhovkva.

He reminded that Ukrainian specialists are not inferior to Western ones. In some cases, they are better at mastering Western weapons, including the Patriot air defense system. In particular, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have proven that Russian ballistic missiles can be shot down by such anti-aircraft systems.

"Therefore, we are working to ensure that the decision (of the NATO summit - ed.) is as strong as possible. We know what formulations is being discussed. Ukraine is keeping its finger on the pulse," the Deputy Head of the Presidential Office noted.

NATO Summit

On July 9-11, the NATO anniversary summit will be held in Washington, DC. Ukraine will be one of the topics of discussion for the leaders.

In particular, it is expected that a roadmap for Ukraine's accession to NATO will be worked out during the meeting. This information was announced by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.

According to Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration of Ukraine Olha Stefanishyna, Ukraine expects a "package of decisions" from the summit that will strengthen its defense capabilities.
