Presidential Administration says whether Ukraine agrees to third country mediation in war with Russia
Ukraine is ready to convey its proposals to Russia with the help of third countries, but in order to really mediate in this war, countries that want to end this war should be serious about this work, states Advisor to the Head of the Presidential Office Mykhailo Podolyak.
According to the OP advisor, to become a mediator, countries have to "behave a little differently."
"Any country that is serious about doing some work will not come out publicly and say rather banal things. When they say 'we are for an immediate ceasefire', it means that the country is not ready for a mediation mission. Because in major wars, this is a completely different kind of work," the advisor explained.
At the same time, Podolyak emphasized that Ukraine is ready to submit its proposals through third countries to Russia, as it was with the grain deal.
This statement was made against the backdrop of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban's working visits to Ukraine, first to Ukraine, and a few days later to Moscow.
During his visit to Kyiv, it was he who proposed to consider a ceasefire in order to allegedly speed up peace talks with Russia.
More details about the results of this trip can be found in a separate RBC-Ukraine article.
The administration of US President Joe Biden has criticized Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban's visit to Russian leader Vladimir Putin and emphasized that such talks would not contribute to peace in Ukraine.
