Ukraine vitally needs high-quality Starlink satellite communication. Without it, it is difficult to protect people from Russian attacks, according to an interview Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy gave to journalist Piers Morgan.

Zelenskyy appeals to Musk

The president responded to the journalist's question regarding the restriction of Starlink speeds in Ukraine by Elon Musk's company.

"If you are losing the speed of Starlink ... so we understand what's going on. So they switched it off. It's their decision," he said.

Zelenskyy appealed to Elon Musk, calling these actions wrong.

"It's a big mistake. A lot of losses .... this decision will bring a lot of human losses ... Of course, people will die. If attacks continue and if Starlink does not work, of course. I mean it's not helpful," he noted.

He expressed hope that this is merely a technical error and requested that satellite communication be restored to full capacity.

"Absolutely, I hope that is a mistake; maybe a huge technical problem, I don't know. But we are asking to switch it on, and I think it will be ... I mean, honestly, it will be fair, and it's like between partners," he clarified.

Starlink restrictions have affected not only long-range missions and frontline logistics. The service is utilized as the currently most effective solution for protecting Ukrainian airspace from jet-powered Shahed drones.

Furthermore, the operation of the Starlink military package in Ukraine has been restricted to speeds exceeding 160 km/h. As a result, a number of critical missions were disrupted.
